Space Thoughts

By Pedro R.C. Silva

I
Before you knew the world, before anything that ever happened to you, the world was a cog in the chaotic mech that is the universe. On this planet kings and their kind ruled with love, hate, and both. Stone masons worked away the imperfections, dissipating them into the wind. Leaving behind a stone ribbons overtop a window, hanging stiffly against the wind.
The world now, as you either know or don’t know, is an orderly chaos and each morning birds glance down at us and what we do. But don’t get too close, because your vision will unfocus and be filled with tiny dots. And each dot has their own story, some full of love, hate, and both.
Your story, on the other hand, is just about to begin little dot. What will you be? Will you fight for love, or preach forth hate? Or will you fight hate under the calling from love. Hate and love and both, or neither.
Or your existence will be like that of a forgotten trash bag in the middle of the sidewalk.

The world is a cog in the Mech we call the universe, a chaotic whir of circular mayhem. Only a few rocks spin in the Goldilocks realm, where life can thrive, life like that on this world, but not quite alike. For each has their own set of constraints and rules that formed as they formed. And some contain water, the essence of the living. H20, don’t ask for H20 too or else you’ll die.

Only a few rocks spin in the goldilocks realm, each a cog in the Mech we call the verse. But in order for life to thrive water is an important element. The biology of ourselves contains mostly water. Cells and molecules and basic atoms, which act like stars and planets, perhaps we are a part of a larger organism? And what we do really doesn’t affect anything other than ourselves and those around us, which really doesn’t matter. Or does it?
Are we here to help, influence, teach, learn, listen, preach, and remember those around us?
     From dust onto dust. Stardust.
In about three billion years the sun will swallow the earth, if nothing else happens to it, which is more likely. We can only project the chaos of the universe up to a point. We believe that it will expand and contract as per the laws of gravity; we’re still expanding, still young.

A black hole, I think, would be best. To be sucked in and held in suspension till the end of, well not time as that no longer functions in a black hole. And not till the end, till new beginning, a new big bang which will tear our atoms and neutrinos, which will scatter them across the new verse, planting the seeds of life on new worlds that will form.
